Joe Performs Free Live Acoustic Internet Broadcast

Joe will be performing an hour solo acoustic show broadcast and streaming on the Internet live on Thursday March 4th, 2010 at 7 pm Pacific Standard Time * at Riviera Paradise Club in Second Life.
The event is free! There are many different ways to participate or listen. You will need is a broadband Internet connection and either Second Life, iTunes or a portable device such as the iPhone or an iPodTouch. The Riviera Paradise Club hosts many of the best live musicians in Second Life.

Joe Rizzo performs acoustic finger-picking folk rock/ragtime/traditional songs along with his own unique blend of original music. Influences include Rev. Gary Davis, Jazon Mraz, Jerry Garcia acoustic band, Elizabeth Cotten, Bob Dylan, the Beatles & much more. Joe lives in the San Francisco Bay area and currently resides in Berkeley California. He is currently working on his first acoustic solo release 'Resonator'. In Second Life his avatar name is 'Joe Paravane'.


The event is free, but tips are always welcome!

How to Attend the Performance in Second Life

1. Log into Second Life Second Life icon on Thursday March 4th, 2010 about 10 minutes before 7 pm Pacific Standard Time (10 pm Eastern Standard Time).

2. Teleport to Riviera Paradise (use Second Life's Search and type in 'Riviera Paradise', if necessary). (Or click here for direct teleport).

How to Listen to the Live Broadcast via iTunes

1. Launch iTunes iTunes iconon Thursday March 4th, 2010 about 10 minutes before 7 pm Pacific Standard Time (10 pm Eastern Standard Time).

2. From the menu bar, select Advanced > Open Audio Stream

3. Type in: http://97.74.80.31:11360 then click OK.

4. The audio stream should automatically begin and you should hear music.
If music doesn't start automatically click the Play button.

How to Listen to the Live Broadcast with an iPhone or the iPod Touch

Requirements:

  • an iPhone (3G or 3Gs model or greater) or iPod Touch (2nd generation or greater).
  • WunderRadio - this application allows you to enter a custom Audio Stream URL. WunderRadio needs to be purchased from the iTunes store on your desktop computer with iTunes or directly using the App Store on the iPhone or iPod Touch. Cost $6.99
  • A wireless Internet connection (wi-fi wireless preferred but 3G over iPhone should work but is slower).

The instructions below are for WunderRadio but should be similar for other applications that allow audio streaming.
  1. Launch WunderRadio. WunderRadio icon
  2. Click on the Stations icon.
  3. In the Search area at the top of the screen type in the full url. For example: http://97.74.80.31:11360 (this is Joe's normal audio stream url but for some clubs and performances this url will change)
  4. Click the Search button at the bottom right side of the screen.
  5. Click on the url audio stream listed under the words Open URL. For example, you might see: http://97.74.80.31:11360
  6. The stream should begin playing. Enjoy the music!
  7. (Optional step: Click the + icon at the top right corner of the screen to store the stream url to your Favorites, then click Ok).

Note: All show & broadcast times listed are based on the time in California - the Pacific Standard Time zone (UTC/GMT -8 hours) including all Second Life live broadcast performances. (This is the same timezone as the clock used in 'Second Life', sometimes refered to as SLT). For a time zone world clock converter check http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ and compare 'San Francisco' time to your area.


Problems?

Second Life issues:

If can't hear the music stream in Second Life, toggle the play button at the bottom of the Second Life viewer.

If toggling the play button does not work, from the Second Life menu bar select Edit > Preferences > Audio & Video tab. Verify that the 'Play streaming music when available' box is checked. Click Apply and then OK.
